Weblogs, Inc. is a blog company run by bloggers for bloggers; as such we're committed to keeping blogging authentic and honest. We want our readers to trust our blogs, so we've committed to the following:

  • There is a clear separation between advertising and editorial on all WIN blogs. Our bloggers are not involved in the advertising process. In fact, our bloggers find out who's advertising on our blogs at the same time as the audience!
  • Bloggers do not receive free products or services from the companies they write about.
  • Bloggers do accept review units (i.e., a new cell phone at Engadget, a video game at Joystiq, or a week-long car loan at Autoblog); however, when they're finished reviewing products, they return these items to the manufacturers. If the manufacturers do not take the items back, we give them to our readers. This is the same editorial policy as the New York Times or Wall Street Journal.
  • Bloggers do not accept "junkets" from vendors. Junkets are free trips that PR firms and the companies they represent provide to journalists in the hopes of getting favorable reviews for their products. Our bloggers routinely get offers of first class tickets and four-star hotels at amazing destinations we NEVER accept them! If we go to an industry event you can be sure that we've picked up the cost of the tickets and that we suffered in coach in order to maintain our integrity.
  • If we get something wrong, we correct the error immediately.
  • Bloggers are committed to being up front and honest. Their opinions are their own, and if you don't agree with them, feel free to post a comment!

Blogs represent a unique way to reach early adopters who create the word of mouth around your products and services. TV Squad interviews Ethan Suplee of My Name is Earl

ethan supleeAnna Johns over on TV Squad has an in-depth interview with My Name Is Earl's own Ethan Suplee. Here's a quick excerpt:

AJ: Who would you love to see guest star on the show?

ETHAN: I would love it if a guy like Paul Giamatti would come on the show. Or John C. Reilly would work well in our universe. Steve Buscemi would be amazing. Those are dream, wish list guest star guys.

AJ: What about Kevin Smith?

ETHAN: Oh, yeah! Kevin Smith would be great too. I think we might. It's one of those things where all these people are very busy so a guy like Kevin Smith, it would be one of those things where we'd talk to him and he'd agree to do it, I'm sure. Well, I hope. I think he'd do it.

TV Squad interviews West Wing's Bradley Whitford

bradley whitfordOver on TV Squad, Bob Sassone has a great inverview up with Bradley Whitford of The West Wing. With the series ending after this season, it's interesting to read what he has to say about the show and what he's got coming up in the future. Here's an excerpt:

BS: What was it like when Aaron Sorkin left? Because it had his stamp all over it. It was romantic, it was inspirational ...
BW: The metaphor that I use that Aaron despises is that it was like being a Branch Davidian and David Koresh left.
BS: (laughs) We have a cult theme going here.
BW: Yes. It was disorienting. It was sad. We couldn't imagine the show without him, and we couldn't imagine the show without Tommy [Schlamme]. I think it's a testament to the world they created that it lived beyond them.
BS: Yeah, it was strong enough to survive even after the creative forces left.
BW: Yeah, and by the way, everyone talks about that Aaron left. The miracle is that he was there that long. I have never, nobody has ever seen anyone work that hard. In the last couple of years I've gotten to write a couple ... and I felt this ... when I sat down to write it it was fucking hard. (laughs)

TV Squad interviews Christopher Gorham

christopher gorhamJoel Keller's on a roll with the interviews lately, this time grabbing up Out of Practice star Christopher Gorham, whose show has just been suddenly shelved ... and he's none too happy about it. Here's an excerpt:

JK: And (Paula Marshal's) gotten enough of a reputation over the years; people know who she is, even though she's never had a successful series, so there's got to be something to be said for that, I'd imagine.

CG: I mean, you've seen her; she's beautiful, she's talented, she's funny, and she's great!  We want the second season of this fucking show so that we can sit up there in front of the press and wear our "I Am Not A Show Killer And Neither Am I" t-shirts (laughs).

TV Squad interviews Howie Mandel

howie mandelJoel Keller over on TV Squad has yet another fantastic interview up, this time with Deal or No Deal host Howie Mandel. Here's an excerpt:

JK: So I'm sure everybody's who's talked to you has asked same question: "Doesn't it drive you nuts when somebody turns down the hundreds of thousands of dollars being offered to them, even though the odds are against them?"

HM: Well, absolutely. And the truth is, that's the hardest part of my job. The hardest part of my job is not -- as a father, as a husband, as a human being -- not to slap somebody and go "You moron, I just offered you a quarter of a million dollars!  You said you can't pay the rent, you don't know where the next meal for your family's coming from, you're in debt for 20 years... Take the money, and look at the odds." But I'm not allowed to say that, so what I try to do is make it as clear as possible.

TV Squad interviews Mindy Kaling of The Office

Mindy KalingJoel Keller of TV Squad has a great interview with The Office's Mindy Kaling, who plays Kelly on the hit comedy television show. Here's an excerpt:

JK: What was your reaction when they decided to bring the background characters into the fore?  Because now you're all full-fledged cast members.

MK: Right, it was so exciting, especially when Kelly started turning up and being a chatterbox; that was great. And how she sort of is oppressive to Ryan and desperately in love with him; I mean, that's all really fun to play. I think there's nothing more fun to playing a character than to play utter puppy dog, undying love for someone who is only lukewarm about them.

But her (Kelly's) outfits are like the worst ever, in a good way. I think they're brilliantly horrifying.

TV Squad interviews creators of ABC's Sons & Daughters

fred goss nick holly
Joel Keller has posted an excellent interview with two of the creators of the fabulous new ABC comedy Sons & Daughters, Fred Goss and Nick Holly. Here's an excerpt:

Joel Keller: What experiences did you bring in to writing the show? Are there elements of both your families in the show?

Fred Goss: Absolutely. Nick and I are both products of divorce, and teen pregnancy, the whole Jewish wife scenario is certainly taken from my life -- I'm going through the same thing with my wife in raising our kids Jewish and I'm not Jewish -- so a lot of the ideas definitely sprang out of our own personal experience with our modern extended families.

Nick Holly: Then we change it so we're not sued. But the inspiration is the worlds we grew up in.
